Safe In Place Now Available for Viewing

Safe In Place is a video presentation designed to help persons identify, prevent and report child abuse. It is offered by the Diocese of Baton Rouge as part of the ongoing commitment of the Catholic Church to provide "Safe Environment" training for all clergy, seminarians, employees and volunteers who are responsible for ministry to children and young people.

The Safe and Sacred Learning Center is a new, online education center, designed for the training of adults working with minors in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. The Safe and Sacred Learning Center hosts this new diocesan video, Safe In Place.

The video can be accessed in three ways for your convenience:

  1. Online, at the Safe and Sacred Learning Center website: http://safeandsacred-diobr.org
  2. Via our diocesan Catholic Life Television: see the full TV schedule below
  3. By contacting the Child Protection Coordinator of the Catholic parish church or school where you plan to volunteer. This Coordinator will tell you the dates and times when the video presentation will be offered. Site Coordinators may not have dates available until January, 2008, due to the holidays.

Individuals accessing the video via Internet or Cable television will be required to take an online test at http://safeandsacred-diobr.org after viewing the video. There are complete instructions for testing on the Safe and Sacred Learning Center site. Successful online test scores will produce a certificate that individuals will forward to the Child Protection Site Coordinator of the Catholic church parish or school where they plan to volunteer.

Individuals viewing the DVD in person onsite at their parish or school will not be required to take a separate test: instead their comprehension of the video presentation is verified in the course of their review of the program.

Since November 18, 2007, Safe In Place has aired on Catholic Life Television (Cox Channel 15 in Baton Rouge). Its broadcast time is:
