The annual and always immensely popular Turkey Carving Contest was held Nov. 24 at the St. Vincent de Paul Society dining room in Baton Rouge. Bishop Michael G. Duca dropped in for a visit and said later, with his typically engaging wit, that he wanted to compete next year and was there to eye up the competition. “I have to bring my game,” he joked. East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore III was voted the winner, with former LSU gymnastics coach Dee Dee Breaux runnerup. As is its custom, B’Nai Israel Temple in Baton Rouge donated 168 turkeys, some of which were used for the contest and the remainder used to feed the hungry on Thanksgiving Day.
