In Memoriam: Father Howard Adkins

It is with sadness that the Diocese of Baton Rouge announces that Father Howard Adkins, a retired priest of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, passed away this morning. He was ordained a priest in May 2007 and retired in 2018.  He was 79.  As a priest, he served as Parochial Vicar of St. Anne in Napoleonville, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Plattenville, St. Philomena in Labadieville, and Our Lady of Mercy in Baton Rouge.  Before his retirement, he served as pastor of Mater Dolorosa in Independence. 
 
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him!
 
Please pray for Father Adkins, his family, and all who mourn his loss.
 
Funeral arrangements are as follows:  Visitation will be on Tuesday, 06 May 2025 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM in the St. Helena Parish Hall in Amite; the funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM at St. Helena Church.  Bishop Duca will preside at the funeral Mass.
