In Memoriam: Father Gerard Young

It is with sadness that the Diocese of Baton Rouge reports the death of Fr. Gerard Young, a retired priest of our diocese.  Before his retirement, Fr. Jerry served as Pastor of St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge.  He also served in various other pastorates and assignments throughout his many years of priesthood. 

Funeral arrangements for Father Gerard “Jerry” Young are as follows:
 
Visitation will be on Saturday, 11 January 2025 from 8:00AM until 10:30AM at St. Joseph Cathedral with a funeral Mass following at 10:30AM.  Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. 
 
Participating clergy are invited to bring their diocesan vestments, vesting in the St. Joseph Cathedral Hall’s Meeting Room.
  
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
