Court Isabella of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the oldest court in the Diocese of Baton Rouge, held its 98th memorial anniversary Mass on Sunday, May 16 at St. Ann Church in Morganza.
The Mass was celebrated by court chaplain and St. Ann pastor Father Babu Vareeth IMS.
The court was charted May 20, 1923, led by its first regent, Dionysis de la Cruz, along with 25 founders.
Barbara Dawson led the procession of the celebration, posting the CDA banner bearing the motto “Unity and Charity.” Officers in their official robes, including State District Deputy Mary LeGrone Benoit, assisted in memorializing the founders and recently deceased members of the court.
Local officers who participated included regent Carolyn McCalip, vice regent Cynthia Wells, recording secretary Cynthia Guidroz, treasurer Judith LeBlanc and financial secretary Sadie Landry.
A brunch followed the Mass at a private residence.
