Did you know that The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry has its own Diocesan Youth Retreat Team that can assist you with any kind of retreat your parish might be in need of? Learn more about DYRT below!
The Diocesan Youth Retreat Team (DYRT) is a Catholic retreat team sponsored by the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis, Youth and Young Adult Ministry. The team consists of college-aged students who plan to implement junior high (6th-8th grade) and high school (9th-12th grade) day and weekend retreats for the Diocese of Baton Rouge. With the assistance of the diocesan staff, the DYRT members receive faith and leadership formation.
DYRT retreats range in length from six to ten hours. Using a variety of themes, team members conduct retreats for hundreds of youth. These retreats are typically high-energy experiences which utilize large group presentations, small group discussion, music, drama and personal faith sharing to facilitate a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ.
Our hope for all the young people we work with is that they will embrace the challenge from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to "build your life on Christ, to accept the Word with joy, and put its teachings into practice" (Message of Holy Father to the Youth of the World on the occasion of the 21st World Youth Day.)
