The mission of the Office of Marriage & Family Life is to offer education, resources and support to local parishes within the Diocese as they seek to empower families to fulfill their own mission as “Domestic Church,” a mission that involves creating the smallest experience of the Church community, being the first herald of the Gospel and serving as the first school of Christian life.
In order to fulfill our mission, the Office of Marriage & Family Life will assist parishes to provide Pastoral Care and informational and instructional programs dealing with a variety of needs, including the following:
• Marriage preparation for engaged couples,
• Marriage enrichment for married couples,
• Education in natural family planning,
• Help for troubled marriages,
• Promoting the sacredness of family life,
• Strengthening parenting skills,
• Support for those experiencing separation and divorce,
• Caring for aging parents,
• Dealing with the loss of a loved one through death and
• Safeguarding the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.
