From Jan. 1-5, 2024, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) hosted its annual SEEK conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference, attended by over 20,000 individuals (more than half being college students), included mass each day followed by breakout sessions, keynote addresses, opportunities to encounter the sacraments and live entertainment.
The Diocese of Baton Rouge was well represented at the conference. In attendance were Father Josh Johnson (keynote speaker, breakout session speaker, pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Baton Rouge and director of vocations for the Diocese of Baton Rouge), Father Mathew Dunn (pastor of Christ the King Church at LSU), students from LSU and Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FRANU), Deacon Michael Parker (Baton Rouge area director of for Vagabond Ministries) and the diocese's Vagabond missionaries, seminarians John Harris and Trey Holmes and the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.
There were also several national missionaries for various Catholic organizations who grew up and/or went to school in the Diocese of Baton Rouge present.
