Bishop Michael G. Duca will be joined by Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge Executive Director David Aguillard on a presentation discussing immigration March 10 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
“Immigrants in Louisiana: A Catholic Perspective ” will focus on such topics as the church’s stance and history on immigration, what is the church currently doing to help immigrants and what individuals can do in the future to help immigration reform.
“We hope the event will help people understand the circumstances that drive refugees and immigrants to flee horrific conditions to save their lives and protect their families and that as followers of Christ we have a responsibility to greet them with mercy and love,” CCDBR Executive Director David Aguillard said. “We’ll provide a Catholic context to help explain the work of Catholic Charities (in the Diocese of Baton Rouge), work that welcomes immigrants and helps them contribute to our communities.”
