The Holy Father, who will consecrate the two war-torn countries to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday evening at St. Peter’s Basilica, has asked bishops throughout the world to join him at or about the same time, which would be noon in Baton Rouge. He also announced that Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, one of two papal envoys to Ukraine, will simultaneously carry out the act in Fatima, Portugal, the site of some of the most famous Marian apparitions in history.
“This is an important moment in the life of the Church and indeed for the whole world,” said Bishop Duca. “I invite all people of faith to join in these solemn prayers for peace.”
