CCR launches prayers for priests

David Dawson, president of Catholic Community Radio, that its Baton Rouge radio stations will begin a weekly campaign of praying for priests in the Diocese of Baton Rouge.   

The campaign raises awareness among Catholic radio listeners mentioning priests by name along with a prayer that airs several times a day each week.

 “The need to pray for our parish priests and shepherds has never been greater,” Dawson said, noting there are 67 active priests in the diocese and some are pastoring more than one church parish.

He said the growth of a larger parish is directly attributed to a pastor's involvement.  

 “Whether it’s a small or large parish, our priests can count on prayerful support from the community through this effort,” Dawson said.

The Prayer for Priests campaign features 17, 60-second radio spots. Each week, four priests are mentioned by name, for 17 weeks and the campaign will repeat consecutively for a year.
