Anna Jean Eaves, a 2024 graduate of Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee was awarded the State 2024 Girl Catholic Youth Leadership Award and a scholarship from the Knights of Columbus Louisiana State Council. Eaves is the daughter of Scott and Christy Eaves and a parishioner of St. Mary of False River Church in New Roads.
After competing with other seniors from her church parish, Eaves was recognized by Council 1998 in New Roads as one of their local CYLA Winner. She then competed in the Baton Rouge diocesan competition against some 25 senior girls. Eaves earned the right to compete against eight other girls in the State CYLA Finals. At the conclusion of the state finals each diocesan winner was given a $1,000 scholarship. She was honored as a state winner at the Knights of Columbus State Convention in Baton Rouge, where she received a plaque and an additional $5,000.

Eaves attended March for Life in Washington, D.C. She was the founder and leader of her school’s music ministry, played piano, and sang during school masses. She was an active member of her school’s campus ministry, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, active in school prayer services, and organized and attended school retreats.
She was inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars, Beta Club, and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. She was the state winner in the Louisiana High School Essay Contest, attended the State Beta Convention and was a State Literary Rally qualifier. She served as junior class president, student council treasurer, and Cultural Club vice president. Eaves was named valedictorian of her senior class, selected as member of the homecoming court and was student of the year during her senior year, finishing with a 4.1 GPA. She was also a member of the Book Club and her school’s 4-H Club.
Additionally, Eaves lettered in track and field and served as captain of her school’s dance team during her junior and senior year and received the MVP Award as a dance team member her senior year.
Eaves served as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered her time at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and the Pointe Coupee General Hospital. Eaves was a national winner of the American Legion Samsung Award and was named the State Fair Top Ten High School Volunteer in the State of Louisiana.
