Baton Rouge, La. – Dan Burke, president and founder of the Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation and author of more than a dozen books on Catholic spirituality, will speak on two occasions next month in Baton Rouge.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Burke will discuss “Interior Life through the Lens of St. Teresa of Avila” from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. following 6:00 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2250 Main Street. Burke will discuss the purgative, illuminative, and unitive ways of the interior life.
On Saturday, April 20, 2024, Burke will discuss “Setting the Captives Free: Spiritual Warfare and the Discernment of Spirits” from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Blvd. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., and the cost is $29 per person.
Burke became well known during his dozen years of service as president and chief operating officer of EWTN News, Inc. After resigning in 2020, he devoted himself fulltime to the Avila Institute, which forms clergy, religious and lay people in Catholic spirituality.
Burke is also the founder of Apostoli Viae, a world-wide private association of the faithful dedicated to living and advancing the authentic spiritual patrimony of the Church.
