The Wilfred B. Ricard Council and Court 116 of Immaculate Conception Church in Baton Rouge of the Knights of Peter Claver donated more than $700.00 to purchase school supplies and anti-bacterial products for three East Baton Rouge Public Schools in the Scotlandville area July 27.
Benefitting from the donations were Ryan, Crestworth and Progress elementary schools. The Back-To-School Project Committee is thankful for the budgetary funding of $450.00 allocated by Council and Court 116 and donations.
Three boxes of school supplies were delivered to each benefitting school. The boxes contained composition books, pencils, hand sanitizers, blunt nosed scissors, washable markers, Crayons and folders.
The COVID-19 pandemic is still a concern in the school environment, so council officials are hopeful the sanitizers will be of help in the classroom.
Wilfred B. Ricard Council and Court 116 are dedicated to planning and promoting works and deeds that uplift the church and the community.
“We hope the Annual Back-To-School Project provides an example that students may emulate as they mature into adulthood,” said council member Lawrence Williams. “We care about students who matriculate through the schools. It takes a community to educate our students.”
He said the Wilfred B. Ricard Council and Court 116 participates in church ministries and programs throughout the year, as well as community service projects. The July 15 – 20 Senior National Convention of the Knights of Peter Claver in Chicago evaluated the 2021 works and deeds that uplift the church and community and presented the 2022 National Volunteer Service Award to Wilfred B. Ricard Council and Court 116.
