Baton Rouge, La — Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge is urging those who want to help with Maui wildfire relief to donate to Catholic Charities USA.
Louisiana is no stranger to disasters and the destruction they cause. Massive wildfires on the island of Maui have killed more than 100 people and displaced thousands.
Catholic Charities USA is considered the official domestic relief agency of the U.S. Catholic Church, and has set up a disaster donation page with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support local people impacted by the Maui wildfires.
“Our prayers are with the Maui community,” said David Aguillard, CCDBR executive director. “We often feel helpless when disaster strikes, and we’re unable to provide aid and help directly to those suffering. Donating through CCUSA is the best way to get local agencies to obtain the resources and supplies as needs arise and evolve.”
