SAMPLE UNIVERSAL PRAYERS 26th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Cycle A September 30 – October 1, 2023
Priest: The Lord God calls us into the vineyard of his kingdom. Aware that many will shirk the invitation, we strive to be faithful to his command as we pray for the needs of all creation.
Deacon (or other reader if there is no deacon):
That the Church always be hospitable in its efforts to invite new members to share in its ministry, we pray to the Lord...
That every effort be made to welcome those with different abilities to participate in liturgical ministries; we pray to the Lord…
That leaders of nations that are estranged from another nation seek dialogue and nonviolent resolutions; we pray to the Lord…
That our communities of faith be visible witnesses to the mercy of God; we pray to the Lord…
For protection for our Gulf coast from the ravages of storms and floods during this hurricane season, we pray to the Lord…
For all who have died, especially [add deceased names or “parishioners of” (add your parish name)], and for the intentions of this mass [add mass intentions], may they share in the glory of the Son, we pray to the Lord…
In silence, we pray for our intentions and for the intentions of others, through the Son, who teaches us about the kingdom of Heaven.... [pause; the presider alone concludes…]
Priest: Almighty and gracious God, we give you thanks for the grace of salvation and for the embrace of your eternal kingdom. May the work of our hands always bring you glory and gratitude for all that we have inherited. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN. ================================================== LITURGY NEWS AND NOTES: 26th Sunday of Ordinary Time September 30 – October 1, 2023 Cycle A
