SAMPLE UNIVERSAL PRAYERS
The Fifth Sunday of Easter, Cycle C
May 17-18, 2025
Priest: The Lord dwells among us. We are his people, the flock of the Lord, and as his people, we are called to offer to him the needs of the world.
Deacon (or other reader if there is no deacon):
· Revelation 21:1-5a
For those who have died whose faith is known to God alone; may those who mourn them not lose hope in God promise of no more death, or mourning, wailing or pain, and that God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, we pray to the Lord…
· For the Church, that Christ may continually renew us and draw us to himself, we pray to the Lord…
¨ For those who weep and mourn, that the tears may be wiped from their eyes, we pray to the Lord…
¨ For those who are recovering from serious surgeries and illnesses, that their pain may be transformed as they heal, we pray to the Lord…
¨ For the grace to recognize those areas of our lives where God is calling us to change, we pray to the Lord…
¨ For all who have died, especially [add deceased names or “parishioners of” (add your parish name)], and for the intentions of this mass [add mass intentions], may they rejoice in the mercy of God and the triumph of Easter, we pray to the Lord...
¨ In silence, we pray to the God of Mercy for our own needs and for the special intentions of others… [pause; the presider alone concludes ….]
Priest: Mighty God, in your presence death and mourning are nowhere to be found. Fill us with Easter joy and hear the prayers that we offer you this day. Through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Lord Jesus, by your death and resurrection you have raised us to eternal life; Lord have mercy…

3. The prayers are those for the Fifth Sunday.
4. If you have been sprinkling the faithful instead of praying the PA, continue to do so today.

6. Use an Easter collect to conclude the UP.
7. Consider using EP-III and SB#6.
8. Any of the prefaces for Easter may be used, especially P-V.
9. There is no double Alleluia in the final dismissal.
