“Our staff knew, our board of directors knew and all our supporters knew that regardless of the legality of abortion, unplanned pregnancies are going to continue, and our work must continue,” Daigle said. “We must continue to provide life-affirming care for women, and we have to go beyond the unplanned pregnancies.”
When WNLC learned that a pro-life physician located across the street from the clinic was retiring at the end of 2021, Daigle said, “I saw the space and the vision of Woman’s New Life Clinic right before my eyes.”
On June 24, the Supreme Court ruled on Dobbs Vs. Jackson and held that the United States Constitution does not confer a right to abortion. On Aug. 15, the feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the three remaining abortion clinics in Louisiana announced they were leaving the state.
“Sadly, though, women are still able to access abortion very easily, especially the abortion pill by mail. There are entities all over our country that are helping women to access abortion by going out of state or they get information online,” said Daigle.
The renovation project’s theme was Romans 8:24: “For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees?”
“We at Woman’s New Life Clinic hope for things we cannot see, and we truly believe in the providence of our Lord. And we are so grateful,” said Daigle.
Before he blessed the building, Bishop Michael G. Duca, whose episcopal motto is “Hope in the Lord,” talked about the importance of being messengers of hope.
