African-American Catholics provide rich diversity, immense gifts, and a wonderful history to the local Church of Baton Rouge! The purpose of the Office of Black Catholics is to continue to cultivate the gifts that Black Catholics bring to the local Church through evangelization and through celebration of their many contributions. The Diocese of Baton Rouge, through this office, advocates for equality for men and women of color in society and through equal participation in the Church's ministries and outreach. The Office and its Director also assists the Diocesan institution by raising consciousiness about issues affecting Black Catholics in Baton Rouge.
