Deacon Candidate Class of 2026 St. James, St. James
Edwin was born in New Orleans, grew up in St. James Civil Parish, graduated from St. James High School, and entered the U.S. Navy two days after graduating. He has been married to Valerie Whittington (Roussell) for ten years, and they do not have any children as a couple. Valerie has a daughter (Jarnae Weber) with two children (Reylan and Riley). Edwin has two daughters; his oldest is Pamela Liverman who lives in Hinesville, Georgia (which is near Savannah). She is the mother of two boys (Kordell and Dominic). Edwin's second daughter, Siabhon, lives in Phenix City, Alabama. She has five children (Sarai, Emanuel Joel, Van Joseph, Will, Jr., and Nicholas).
Ed is a twelve year Faith Formation veteran/teacher as well, and for two years, he has taught Confirmation. He is retired from the Navy with twenty-eight years of service.
He and his wife still live in St. James and attend St. James Catholic Church. Ed and Val have always been involved in parish ministries. Ed welcomed the call from God to serve by considering the diaconate. He feels blessed to be called in this manner to serve in a way to exult the Lord.
