“Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2280
The tragedy of suicide affects the lives of many in our diocese and in our communities. The Diocese of Baton Rouge aims to bring hope to those suffering in our community, whether from mental health challenges, trauma, or the loss of a loved one. Through prevention and awareness trainings and support for those grieving, we are striving to protect and preserve the lives God has entrusted to our care.
